John Layton, Vice President, Real Estate, Bow River Capital

John Layton is a Vice President in Bow River Capital’s Real Estate group. In this role, John is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing real estate investments within the firm’s active portfolios. His investment experience spans across the capital stack, including direct investing, joint ventures, mezzanine debt, and opportunity zones. He has successfully sourced and led transactions across Bow River Capital’s Rodeo Region™ with a primary focus in Salt Lake City.

Before joining Bow River Capital, John worked in Ernst & Young’s Mergers & Acquisitions Real Estate Group in Philadelphia focusing primarily on transaction-based valuations. He was involved in over $6.5 billion of commercial real estate valuations, including an IPO of a Washington D.C. REIT onto the New York Stock Exchange. John held prior positions as a Development Associate in Philadelphia and internships at PNC Bank’s Capital Markets Finance and Commercial Real Estate Banking groups.

John became a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) in 2019 and holds a B.S. in Finance with an emphasis in Real Estate from Pennsylvania State University.
