Committees/Task Forces & Other Volunteering Opportunities
Most Committees and Task Forces meet on a monthly basis via teleconferences typically lasting up to one hour. You will be contacted by the staff liaison regarding your selection. And don't forget--your commitment level is always up to you!
Chapter Resource Committee (April 1-March 31 term)
The Chapter Resource Committee develops tools to assist chapter leaders in leading, organizing, and conducting chapter activities. These resources support CFMA’s strategic plan initiatives of improving awareness of resources available to chapter leadership; developing effective chapter leaders, assisting chapters with local events and Regional Conferences; and helping chapters to consistently provide a positive member experience. Membership in this committee is limited to past Chapter Presidents and current Chapter Officers.

Conference Program Task Force (July-June term)
Oversees the program formats and educational content of CFMA’s Annual Conference & Exhibition. Provides input on other aspects on the Annual Conference as requested. Serves as a resource for topics and speakers to Education Committee and other committees as necessary. Membership in the Committee is contingent upon application acceptance by the Committee leadership.
Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention Task Force (April 1-March 31 term)
The Task Force offers input, advice, guidance, and perspective to successfully provide and share resources for suicide prevention and mental health promotion in construction.

Education Steering Committee (April 1-March 31 term)
The Education Steering Committee provides input regarding the development and presentation of educational products and services for members of CFMA and the local chapters. They also serve as a sounding board providing advice and guidance to the CFMA Education team, including review of education policies, practices and procedures. Participation on this committee is by appointment and candidates are selected based on a set of criteria designed to ensure fair representation of all member constituencies while ensuring that candidates have experience that brings value to the committee. Ideal candidates are experienced in developing, selecting and/or arranging for the presentation of professional education offerings and for example, might include CFMA members who have actively served in a capacity that was integral to the offering of professional education at their local chapter. Membership in the Committee is contingent upon application acceptance by the Committee leadership.
Emerging Issues Committee (April 1-March 31 term)
The objective of this Committee is to monitor the latest changes, news, and updates in financial reporting issues pertinent to the construction industry. In addition, this Committee makes recommendations as to whether CFMA should assert a position regarding these emerging industry issues and, if so, authors papers/response letters in response to these issues.

Financial Survey & Benchmarker Committee (October-September term)
This Committee has a hand in shaping CFMA’s Annual Financial Survey and Financial Benchmarker products! The Committee’s expertise is employed in evaluating the effectiveness of the Financial Survey’s Online Questionnaire, creating each year’s new Hot Topic, reviewing specific sections of the final Survey report prior to release, improving the usefulness of the Survey and Benchmarker tools, and identifying opportunities for Survey and Benchmarker promotion.
Heavy/Highway Committee (April 1-March 31 term)
For those CFMA members in the heavy/highway community, this committee focuses on member classification initiatives, Talking Heavy e-newsletter, Webinar content, and Annual Conference tracks.
Membership Committee (April 1-March 31 term)
Shape the CFMA experience where it counts most – at the individual level. This Committee is responsible for the review of membership classifications, initiatives, and programs. Membership in the Committee is contingent upon application acceptance by the Committee leadership.
Publications Advisory Group (April 1-March 31 term)
In addition to assisting in maintaining the high standards of CFMA Building Profits article content and advertising, as well as the usage of CFMA BP Online (the digital replica of our award-winning magazine), advisory group members are asked to participate in quarterly calls, review articles, and contribute topics and ideas.
Specialty Trade Committee (April 1-March 31 term)
For those CFMA members in the specialty trade community, this committee focuses on member classification initiatives, Talking Trades e-newsletter, Webinar content, and Annual Conference tracks.
Tax & Legislative Affairs Committee (April 1-March 31 term)
This Committee identifies, monitors, and reports on legislation, tax regulations, and other significant related state and federal issues which impact the construction industry. In addition, this Committee makes recommendations as to whether CFMA should assert a position regarding these tax & legislative issues and, if so, authors papers/response letters in response to these issues.

Ballot Certification Task Force
Consists of at least two members, one of which shall be a General Member and one of which shall be a member of the Board of Directors. All ballots shall be delivered, unopened, to the Task Force, and it shall count said ballots and certify the results of its count to the Board of Directors.

Finance Committee (April 1-March 31 term)
The committee is responsible for approving the annual operating and capital budgets and monitoring actual results during the year. The committee is also responsible for approving changes to the CFMA investment policy, approving the selection of the independent auditors and recommending the annual membership dues amounts. Membership in the Committee is by invitation only through the Committee leadership.
Audit Subcommittee (April 1-March 31 term)
The subcommittee is responsible for overseeing the annual audits of the financial statements and annual tax returns. Membership in the Subcommittee is by invitation only through the Subcommittee leadership.

Investment Subcommittee (April 1-March 31 term)
The subcommittee has responsibility for managing the Reserve Fund investments through our external investment firm and evaluating the performance of the investment advisor.

Nominating Task Force
The task force shall nominate candidates for election as officers, the Executive Committee, and At-Large Directors and report its selections to the Chairman for approval. After the approval of a slate of candidates for the coming year, the task force shall remain in existence for the remainder of the year.
