Executive Committee Meeting Summary – March 28, 2014, Washington, DC
CFMA’s Executive Committee met on Friday, March 28th in Washington, DC to discuss a variety of strategic topics and other initiatives. The committee is a group of dedicated individuals who represent your interests as members. Below are some highlights from this recent one day meeting:
- Approved all elements of the proposed “STAR Program,” a brand-new initiative for 2014-15 which provides chapters with financial resources to address the administrative, education and resource challenges they face and deliver value to members.
- Approved the 2014-15 Operating & Capital budgets for the organization.
- Reviewed all four Mega Issues considered by the committee in 2013-14 and progress on the subsequent action items.
- Continued the successful format of the meeting which included an “open forum” portion, where committee members were able to engage in discussion on topics outside of the formal agenda, which included: pursuit of international members, chapter technology issues, training for chapter administrators, potential affinities with other industries, and scholarships.
At each Executive Committee meeting, we involve the committee in active discussions that allow them to provide input on major challenges facing both CFMA and our chapters. We call these “Mega Issue” discussions, and this meeting’s challenge was focused around our four Strategic Plan goal areas: “What is the single biggest change at CFMA that would make the most impact in delivering member value in each of the following areas: Membership, Chapters, Education, External Relations?” The results of these discussions are being summarized and we will be utilizing this information as we prepare for a formal update of CFMA’s Strategic Plan in late Summer 2014.
CFMA’s HQ Staff and Executive Committee are always looking for new ways to serve the needs of our members. If you have any comments or questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 609-945-2429.
President & CEO, CFMA
