March 2019 Executive Committee Meeting Summary

CFMA’s Executive Committee convened on March 8-9, 2019, in Jackson Hole, WY to discuss strategic initiatives and projects that continue to shape the future of our Association. CFMA’s 2018-19 Chairman Joe McLaughlin, CCIFP, welcomed incoming Treasurer, Pam Hepburn and incoming Secretary, Bert Guiberteau for the 2019-20 fiscal year.  The Executive Committee also heard stories from those in attendance that awarded their Chairman Coins to recognize CFMA members’ contributions and excellence in service to CFMA.

The Executive Committee approved the 2019-20 budget and based on the projected financial success for this current fiscal year, agreed to allocate $450,000 to our reserve fund. Executive Committee members also approved the standard resolution of authority and the 2019-20 Committee leadership. The committee reviewed and agreed on the work completed on our Strategic Plan that included finalizing the objectives and tactics as the plan begins in April 2019. The mega issue for this meeting addressed the question, should CFMA develop an Emerging Leaders Program, to which the group provided strategic input.

Membership Committee

  • A proposed bylaws change was presented to move Canadian members to the International Member category as that motion was passed.
  • The committee also outlined the initiative to provide complimentary membership to non-members for the reminder of the year that attend a CFMA Regional Conference.

Committee Approvals
The committee approved that the following task forces become standing committees.

  • Leadership Development Task Force
  • Conference Programming Task Force

In addition they approved development of a new standing committee for suicide prevention.
