What type of organization is CFMA?
Founded in 1981, the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) is the only organization dedicated to providing construction financial professionals with unparalleled career development and networking opportunities. Along with publishing the award-winning CFMA Building Profits, CFMA offers educational, professional, and connection programs to more than 7,500 members throughout its more than 90 chapters, Annual Conference, and online learning.

What types of membership does CFMA offer?
CFMA is an individual membership organization; company memberships are not available. Unlike a trade association, CFMA membership is held by the individual (even if an individual’s company pays the dues). CFMA has two primary membership categories: General and Associate. General members are employed in the construction industry– such as general contractors, subcontractors, and engineers – in a financial capacity. Associate members serve the construction industry, such as accountants with a construction practice, bankers, lawyers, surety brokers, insurance agents, and software vendors. CFMA also offers international, educator, transitional, and student memberships.

What are the benefits of being a CFMA member?
CFMA is the premier organization for networking and education opportunities for construction financial professionals. More than 90% of CFMA members affiliate with a local chapter to take advantage of the tremendous networking and problem-solving capabilities. Members receive the award winning bi-monthly magazine – CFMA Building Profits, the only magazine covering construction financial management from the ground up and the inside out. CFMA’s Connection Café is the members-only social network where subscribers can post questions and challenges and connect with peers on industry and business trends, information, and innovation. CFMA members also have access to free monthly e-newsletters and CPE-granting Webinars.

How do I become a member of CFMA and what does it cost?
Joining CFMA is easy. You can simply download the application PDF and either mail/scan the completed form, along with payment, to our Princeton, NJ headquarters or you can join online and submit membership dues with a credit card. Member dues are mandatory; however, while strongly encouraged, chapter affiliation is not required.

Annual membership runs from April 1- March 31. General member dues are $340 and Associate member dues are $440. Local chapter dues vary by chapter independent of CFMA HQ. A complete directory of CFMA’s chapters and information on any applicable associated chapter dues is available here.

What are prorated dues and how do they apply?
Prorated dues are effective from April 16 to September 15. Any new member joining during this time will pay prorated dues through March 31 of the following year. Here’s a sample of how prorated dues work.

How do I get information on members of CFMA?
CFMA takes the privacy of our members’ contact and demographic information very seriously. CFMA does not sell its member list. Distribution of member data is strictly limited under certain circumstances. The CFMA online member directory is available to all current members; however, members must activate the option to display their contact information in their profile for other members to view.

What exactly is a CFMA chapter and how does the chapter relate back to CFMA HQ?
CFMA chapters meet locally, allowing members to get the added benefits of local networking and education. Each chapter is unique in the structure and content of its meetings. All members of CFMA chapters must also be members of CFMA. Find a CFMA chapter near you!


What is Digitell and how do I utilize it to register for online education programs?

Digitell hosts CFMA’s online educational content and CPE access for all registered users. Once you have an account created on CFMA’s Education Online website, you can sign up for webinars and online courses, access all of your previous content, and complete webinar and online course evaluations to receive CPE credits.

Does CFMA award CPE credits for online educational programs? What are the requirements to receive credit and how do I access my CPE certificate after attending a program?
Yes, CFMA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education, and is licensed to provide CPE credits for group-live and group-internet based programs.

To receive CPE credits for attending a webinar or online course, participants must log in to the program within 15 minutes of the start of the presentation and respond to a series of alertness checks at different intervals throughout the broadcast. Participants who do not meet the alertness requirement will not be able to take an evaluation survey or receive CPE credits.

Participants complete the online evaluation survey through CFMA’s Education Online website. Log on with your CFMA username and password and click My Account. Locate the title of the session and click Access, then Evaluations, to take the survey and print your CPE certificate. CPE certificates are only awarded for attending live online events and are not provided for viewing on demand programs.

Since 2013, CFMA has partnered with JBKnowledge in its Construction Technology Report. I am a chapter administrator. How do I access my chapter list reports and chapter remittance reports?

Chapter administrators can access their chapter list reports and chapter remittance reports through the Admin Tools menu of after logging in. Both reports can be generated in HTML or Excel formats, and the chapter remittance report can be exported utilizing a date range.

What is the difference between ICCIFP and CCIFP?

The Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP®) designation is the only certification for construction financial professionals and is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) under ISO 17024:2012. The Institute for Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (ICCIFP) provides the construction industry with a third-party verification of an individual’s knowledge, which is essential to ethical financial management in today’s complex construction industry.

What is the CCIFP certification and what benefits does it provide?
Established in 2003, and today with more than 900 active CCIFPs nationwide, the CCIFP credential is the only standard to recognize that a financial manager truly knows the business of construction. Certification affords you a competitive edge over your peers by demonstrating your commitment to your profession and the construction industry as a whole.
