LAST FRONTIER Chapter

PUBLICATIONS OF THE
Greetings to our CFMA Members: Fall is here and we are about to resume our monthly meetings the last Wednesday of each month. This month we are kicking off the year on September 24th with a fascinating topic “Gen X & Y Employees, How To Get Full Productivity”. We are most pleased to have as our guest speaker Lynne Curry of the Growth Company. As Alaska’s premier management trainer and human resources consultant, the following words have been used to describe her: dynamic, on-target, highly professional and effective, funny, practical, clear and "real." We know this will be a talk you won’t want to miss and Last Frontier would like to thank Davis Constructors and Engineers for generously sponsoring Lynn’s talk. Our meeting will be at Aladdin’s Fine Mediterranean Restaurant (Old Seward & Tudor) on the 24th starting at 11:30 am. Cost for lunch and the meeting $25.00. Feel free to bring guests. We have some other great monthly meeting topics planned for the year, which will be rolled out in an announcement at the end of this month. Our goal is to present industry meetings that provide value with speakers and topics that are timely and interesting to our market, and area. Plus provide a place for us to meet and network. We hope you will join us for many of them. The Last Frontier Chapter of CFMA will again this year be providing Construction based financial classes in general accounting, money management and bonding. We are pleased to announce that we will be presenting a program at the Associated General Contractors annual Conference in November. With several more planned for 2009. Also again this year we are working with the University of Alaska’s Construction Management program providing construction professionals to speak at the Construction Accounting and Financial Management class. Last year we provided 5 speakers, from construction company owners, controllers, CFO’s and management to help bring real life examples and experience to our future construction managers. We are most proud to announce that our chapter won six awards at the CFMA National Conference held in Orlando, Florida in May. They were Chapter of the Year (second year in a row) We will be sending out the formal dates and topics of this year meetings soon. You don’t have to be a member to attend, but we invite you to consider doing so. This is a great organization and a wonderful group of people to get to know.
