President's Corner
Hello to all my
fellow construction financial professionals! My name is Diahan
Ehasz, and I am the President of the Construction Financial Management
Association – Colorado Chapter for the fiscal years of 2009 and 2010.
On behalf of myself, the officers, and the Board of Directors, I welcome
those of you who are currently members of our organization and thank you
for your continued participation and support. For those of you who
are inquiring about our organization, or perhaps have not been active in
awhile, I want to take the opportunity to share how CFMA has enriched my
life.
I have been a
member of the Colorado Chapter of CFMA for more
than 12
years. For the first 7
years I remained a silent member. I paid my dues, received my
magazine and
occasional surveys and e-mails but I did not get actively involved.
About 5 years ago I was asked to help start a satellite meeting in
Northern Colorado. I agreed and have since then become an active
member of the Colorado Chapter Board of Directors. I have to say
that in all those years of membership I have gotten more out of CFMA in
these past 5 years than in all the prior years put together.
Getting “involved” has been the best thing I have done. I have
experienced personal growth and new relationships far beyond what I
imagined. I have been forced out of my “box” by having to lead
rather than follow or sit back and listen. The people I have
worked with have been fun and stimulating. It has been great
talking with other financial professional people that I have something
in common with. I have been involved with other construction
associations in the past but CFMA is different for me because it brings
together people I can personally relate to because of our common
positions in our companies. Due to my regular attendance at our
meetings and at local and national conferences I have learned a great
deal from our speakers as well. I think CFMA is a great
association and I look forward to staying involved as much as I can.
Sometimes we all get busy and it seems overwhelming to take on more by
volunteering for a committee, or a board position, but I can tell you
from experience it is all worth it and everyone has something to offer.
It’s the old saying “the more you give, the more you get”.
I encourage those
that are interested in our organization to contact any of the officers
and/or board members for more information, attend one of our meetings,
or visit the national website of our organization at cfma.org. We
look forward to seeing you soon! |
