CFMA’s 2009
Annual Financial Survey is Underway Online
The financial
survey that benchmarks the industry is underway. There is
no better way to evaluate and benchmark industry
contractors. Why participate? Your company data adds value
and all study participants are eligible to receive the
survey report and the benchmarking builder at an 80%
discount off the suggested sales price.
For 2009,
please remember entering your financial data using the
Online Questionnaire site will be the only way to
participate in the financial survey. Paper
questionnaire booklets and “original financial statements”
are being discontinued.

President’s Message…
Hello
CFMA Members!
Thanks
to everyone who joined us this past Monday at Sandia Golf
Resort for our Annual Golf Tournament. What a wonderful
day! The weather could not have been better and our
committee did a fabulous job organizing the event. On
behalf of the board, we would like to thank everyone for
their continued support and making this year’s tournament
another great success. As you may know, the net proceeds
will be used to fund the many Chapter Education Initiatives.
Next
week, Wednesday, June 17th will be the second
portion of our popular IT presentation. Our presenters
will be John Milton of the Kinney Agency and Gary Barker of
GBarker Consulting.
They will be talking about
what the future may hold:
§
Future Software
Platforms
§
Operating
Systems – Hosted vs. In-House
§
Open Office
Each
year, the IT presentation from Del Amico, Huxley Dunsany,
John Milton and Gary Barker gets better and better. Please
remember to RSVP as this meeting is generally well attended
and we need to make sure we have a large enough room. I
look forward to seeing everyone there.
It is
with sadness I inform you that Joe Owens will be leaving
us. He and his family are moving to California to be closer
to family and pursue a new opportunity. Over the past
years, Joe had been a tremendous volunteer. We would like
to thank Joe for everything he has done for our Chapter and
wish him the best. Kathy Packer graciously volunteered to
fill in as Secretary for the remainder of Joe’s term.
Did
everyone receive the e-mail regarding CFMA’s 2009 Annual
Financial Survey Online? There is no better tool to
benchmark your company. Please see details below how to
participate. The deadline is quickly approaching, July 10th.
In
summary:
-
Second presentation on IT – Wednesday, June 17th
at the MCM Elegante Hotel at 11:30am

Celebrating a Two Year Partnership with Junior Achievement
of New Mexico
In 2007 Chapter members began volunteering in New Mexico
K-12 classrooms to help students connect the dots between
what they learn in school and the “business of life’’ –
workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial
literacy.
Teaching kids about financial literacy was a perfect match
for our group of Financial Professionals. Our membership
understands that it is imperative that these students have
the opportunity to learn these necessary practical skills,
as they will grow up to run our nation’s businesses,
government entities and educational institutions. The
financial crisis of 2008 clearly demonstrates the need to
take action today for a sound investment in our nation’s and
children’s futures.
Finishing out the spring semester of 2009, the Albuquerque
Chapter of CFMA membership has volunteered in over 30
classrooms. In addition to our volunteers, the Chapter has
made an annual contribution of between $500 and $1000.
As you can see from the picture below, our CFMA member
volunteers have the opportunity to talk to the students
about pursuing a career in the construction industry? This
first grade class got to try on and model some of the basic
safety attire used in the construction industry. The first
grade curriculum uses a combination of pictures, stickers,
and flashcards to engage students in activities about needs
and wants, jobs, tools, skills and interdependence. It is
never too early to talk to young people about the
opportunities in pursing a career in construction!

Community Service Project |
|
The Albuquerque Chapter of CFMA would like to again invite all
members to participate in our 2008 - 2009 Community Service
Project. As you know from past chapter communications, the
2008-2009 CFMA Community Service Project is volunteering to
teach a Junior Achievement program.
If you haven’t volunteered yet, please consider volunteering for
the spring semester. If you have been a previous volunteer,
won’t you consider volunteering again? Besides being one of
the most rewarding experiences of your life, you may
directly affect a student’s decision of staying in school
and graduating. This is a win-win opportunity for you and
the children of New Mexico.
Please take a moment and read the attached document Bringing the
Business of Life to Life explaining more about being a JA
volunteer. If you have any questions about the program
please call the JA office at 344-0861. I would also be happy
to answer any questions you may have. You may reach me at
242-4848 x 3021.
Thanks you for your consideration to this opportunity!
